SEWER SERVICE

Carrollton Utilities sewer service is available for residential, commercial and industrial customers in the cities of Carrollton, Prestonville, Worthville, Sanders, Sparta, and Glencoe. Sewage usage is based on your water usage.

Utility bills are issued around the 10th of each month with a due date of the 20th. We require an application and security deposit for any new service requests. To establish service you must visit our office with a picture ID and payment for the security deposit as required in our rules and regulations.

WASTEWATER ADJUSTMENT POLICY
EFFECTIVE 8/1/2007

Voluntary Sewer Usage: Carrollton Utilities will allow a ONE time a year adjustment for any sewer bill where the water did not enter the sewer system and it is a voluntary usage such as pools, watering, hot tubs (anything other than leaks). Usage must be more than 50 units above average for the voluntary usage adjustment. The adjusted usage will be the normal average monthly usage bases on history available plus 50 units (unit = 100 gallons).

Examples: A customer asking for an adjustment and their normal bill is 50 units and they watered their lawn, the high bill is 100 units...they would NOT get an adjustment because it is not considered “excessive”. Another example: Normal 20, leak bill 200...they would pay for 70 units only. Reason for excessive usage must be verified and proven the usage did not enter the sewer system.

Involuntary Sewer Usage: Carrollton Utilities will allow a ONE time a year adjustment for “LEAKS” or other involuntary usage that did not enter the sewer. The adjusted usage would be the normal average monthly usage based on history available. Leaks must be verified that they occurred and did not enter the sewer system.

Important:

Carrollton Utilities has sewer service available in areas not served by our water system such as Sparta, Sanders, Glencoe, Worthville and other areas directly outside the city limits of Carrollton. Those sewer customers need to contact our office as well as their water district office to establish service, discontinue service and other changes that may affect the billing of sewer charges. New structures must contact Carrollton Utilities for inspection of the cleanout and connection to the main by calling 502-732-7055 during normal business hours.

I-71/HIGHWAY #35 SERVICE AREA: A debt service recovery fee of $0.5824 per 100 gallons shall be charged effective May 1, 2006, and shall continue until the capital cost incurred to serve the area is recovered. The I-71 Highway #35 Service Area is defined as all customers served by either of the sewer pump stations located near the I-71 Sparta interchange.

For publicly funded extension projects serving areas where connection to the sewer is mandatory, the Capacity Fee shall be waived for residential and small commercial customers with existing on site sewer systems as long as connection to the public system is made within 120 days of being notified that the system is available for use.

For publicly funded extension projects serving areas where connection to the sewer is not mandatory, the Capacity Fee shall be 1/3 of the normal fee for residential and small commercial customers with existing on site sewer systems as long as connection to the public system is made within 120 days of being notified that the system is available for use.
